With each passing day it becomes harder to find much in this town to get behind, except perhaps bullet proof surfaces.
Let's see, we have a murder or two daily. A clown for a Mayor and plenty of jesters for city council. The only things growing in this town are gangs and weeds and gangs with weed and rival gangs fighting over weed........it's an overgrown situation.
For the past month, we've had an annual diversion tactic in progress known as Memphis State basketball. Yeah Yeah, I know some things change as did the name of University of Memphis, but a large majority of its fan base, wasn't always gray haired either. Blue is the color of the month and you see it everywhere.
In typical Memphis fashion, we always seem to take a perfectly good thing and snuff , the life out of it........I have decades of examples going back atleast forty years, with today marking the anniversary of our national claim of defame. The latest "Start something great in Memphis.........and watch someone F it up" award goes to an "ungrateful little pisser" who was asked to submit a sample for the NCAA.
This makes me see red, so perhaps I am not as color blind as I should be by today's sub standards. It disgusts me so that I could need a coating of the pink stuff to be able to stomach listening to anymore of the philosophical bull shit this loser's coach is putting out to the media regarding this little pee-pee stain on the reputation of our city's last remaining hope.
The whole thing is being ignored by the masses, in their "blue colored"glasses.
Shame or not blue and yellow still make green and lots of green will be made over all of this.
Just like our failed city system, when things go a miss, find ways to p.... pour more money into it. Nothing is more Memphis than that.

caught up at work, beat Kyle in scrabble, did my 2nd training run for the week, promised Ed I'd read another script and finish changes on the other two, watched a movie with Kelly, made a batch of "Ordinary Janet"'s ultimate brownies (these would have made Paula Dean jealous); had a great talk with my older brother Earl (aka: Uncle Bossman); checked in with Les (aka: Uncle Moonpie)-Go Cubbies!; piddled in the yard; had a beer with Bill at Old Venice.

I'm guessing that the average here is one a year, but I'm expecting it to start going up.
And then I may be forced to move to a smaller place where there isn't so many stupid monkeys.
And don't get me started about the city government here. After three tries a lady here got on the city council.
After she did someone had a letter to the editor in the local rag stating that they liked it that at last there was someone there with a sense of fashion.
What the fuck? You have to have fancy clothes to be a good leader?
She is talented, she does dress very nice, I'll give her that. But I've seen her without makeup and being fancied up and she is just another fucking monkey.
And a dangerous one because she is a Christian that wants a Cadillac. Went to Hawaii on her recent honeymoon with a well off sucker she latched on to.
She was born here, had big dreams, moved to the bible belt, Atlanta. Tried to impress me with the fact that she had been in the governors mansion and rubbed elbows with the Georgia big shits.
Big fucking deal, she washed out there, her husband dumped her greedy star struck ass and she moved back here about eight years ago.
She sticks with it, I'll give her that. But those little tits don't do a thing for me. LOL
Those of who went to the U of Arkansas always refer to Memphis (State) University as "Memphis High".
The corruption in that schools athletic dept runs so deep it makes the Republican party look like a buch of choir boys.
Thank you Auntie J, i guess what gets me most is that this whole go tigers, smacks of such hypocrisy. Go back 200 years in this cities history and these guys would be cotton pickers in a tote sack race with another plantation. Now fast forward and the end result is the same. The players are pawns for money grubbing athletic programs and they keep them on leashes while turning a blind eye to their failed academics, of which I have personal proof and to their social blunders. They use them until they use them up and they are cast aside with no real educations and the new bumper crop of slaves is being picked to entertain the masses. I am a white memphian living "off the court" and there is no way in hell anyone could convince me that 99.9% of the white fan base would actually welcome any of these guys out of uniform as real "neighbors".
bbc: our Mayor was tossed out of Atanta years ago when he left our school system to seek his "true calling" in politics. The long time black political machine there told him to go home that he couldn't run with the big dogs. He came back tail tucked and ever since has been trying to prove something. I think people who really want to do "good" for their community don't get into politics.....they just do it.
Jay: yes, I can remember it being called "Tiger High". Sad fact is that it goes on to some degree at most colleges or universities and if people think the NCAA is "corrupt proof", then pardon the pun but "they aren't in Kansas anymore" themselves.
The wise don't get into politics. That's one reason this country is a mess.
